In the beginning of the war Ukrainian healthcare professionals living in the UK organized the Ukrainian Medical Association of UK (UMAUK), which connected with Ukrainian hospitals, charities, NGOs and the Ukrainian Ministry of Health, working to help support the medics continuing to operate under fire in Ukraine.
Active healthcare professionals formed local teams in the UK and campaigned for donations from NHS hospitals and private health organizations. The goal was to get equipment and urgent consumables since the supply chains to Ukrainian hospitals were disrupted in many areas.
They work to support healthcare facilities and ambulances as a part of Medical Aid Ukraine and in partnership with the Circle Health Group and other organizations supporting the Ukrainian healthcare sector.
Medical Aid Ukraine in West Midlands alone has filled up 48 vehicles with medical aid, including ambulances, airplanes, SUVs, vans, and HGV lorries, with a total of 31 coordinated tours.
They facilitate monthly medical supplies from the Circle Health Group and Bunzl from March 2022 to 7 Ukrainian Regional Hospitals (Dnipro, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Lviv, Kherson – the same week of its liberation).
Together with the other Medical Aid Ukraine groups in the UK, including Liverpool, London, Northern Ireland, North East England, Devon, Portsmouth, Scotland, East Midlands, and Wales in the first 2 months of the war, managed to send almost 4 tons of medical aid to Ukrainian hospitals.
Ukrainian Medical Charity was registered as a separate organization in July 2023, but the team has been operating since 2011. UMC keeps the ongoing work to support the Ukrainian healthcare teams with equipment and supplies as well as taking care of safe logistics across Ukraine.
Goals for 2024
- Support our partner hospitals in Ukraine ( Dnipro, Kyiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, Kherson) with medical supplies. We have many medical equipment donations and must set up Ukrainian Medical Charity logistics for 2024 to deliver needed supplies.
- Support our partner’s children’s hospitals with fundraising for medical equipment.
- Fundraising campaigns with partners for supporting civil and (separately) frontline medics with their requests.
- Fundraising campaign for getting ambulances with medical consumables and equipment to Ukraine.
- Other urgent requests
Ukrainian Medical Charity also has other fundraising projects essential for Ukraine and Ukrainians: mental health, prosthetics, and strategic support of the Ukrainian MOH with the best expertise, rebuilding the Ukrainian healthcare sector.

The Porchester Hall makes for a wonderful atmospheric ballroom. The walls are handsomely panelled in English oak and walnut, with luxurious rich crimson velvet drapes. Fascinating figurines and motifs support the main beams and ten magnificent crystal chandeliers hang from the fine ceiling. But most importantly the Hall as the perfect dance floor made of sprung oak parquet, great for dancing all day and night.
